Music and Reading Continues

Book: Free Soul and Love my Life by Yamaji Ebine. Music: I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry. I found both the song and the comics probably the same day. I thought it was ironic considering the topic of the books and the song. The two manga titles are shoujo-ai, or girls love, dealing with female / female relationships; Book: The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt. Music: You and I by Park Bom. I am kinda confused how these two came together, the song and book aren't exactly fitting for each other, but hey. They both are about love so they do have something in common even if it isn't the tone. Book: Bitter Angels by CL Anderson. Music: White Horse by Sarah McLeod. Well... I didn't actually finish the book, but I did spend enough time staring at it. I thought the song and the book went together particularly well. Plus I kind hone in on key words such as "course," "mystery" and so on. So I sorta got the space mission vibe... I guess. Book: Allegra Fairweather: Paranormal Investigator by Janni Nell. Music: Cloud 9 by Hwayobi; This combo involves another funny coinkidink (the other being the shoujo-ai and Katy Perry's song). I was listening to this song before I started the book, and then all of a sudden this book starts bring up their own "Cloud 9" where the heroine says her guardian angel lives. So it it is the name in this case that cemented the two in my mind. Those are the ones I remember right now. I am sure there are more... Anyway, yay this was fun.

Music and Reading

I've been thinking how much I love music and how much I love reading. Sometimes the two kinda bump into each other. And a song somehow becomes attached to a book. I am the type that once I find a song I like it I have to listen to it repeatedly, so I easily can listen to the same song all while I read one book. I notice that sometimes the book comes out the winner and I remember that more clearly than the song I had playing on repeat in the background, and sometimes it is the flip-side. I kinda wanted to make a short little list of the book and song pairings. Book: Fruits Basket; Music: Above the Clouds by Kavin Hoo. It was in July, my mums B-Day, and hot as hell. I had the CD playing in the background as I was introduced to one of my favorite manga series ever; Book: Desire by Yukine Honami; Music: Kids with Guns by Gorillaz. I thought the tone of the song went well with the tone of the book, the chorus. With this I was using my CD player with earbuds. I am trying to recall if I manually had to "repeat" the song.

Another coat Purchased

You have all been with me along my "oh so awful I cannot find a winter coat" journey. I ordered one from House of Fraser. It arrived. It was awful. I ordered one from ASOS. It arrived. It was nice. From Danish brand Minimum (a brand I really like), it was a simple charcoal duffle. But I feel like a slob when I wear it during the week. I need something that goes the extra: looks stylish, keeps me warm and maybe is in a colour that lifts rather than drains? I almost bought a navy Burberry mac, and although that remains on my wish list (as I think navy is a fabulous colour) I plumped for this coat in Zara. Cue shaky shot of me wearing said coat today as I was heading out! It's funny because I tried this right at the beginning of the winter season. Then I saw some semi-famous people wear it in the newspapers and I liked the way it looked when worn smart or casual. I guess you would describe it as a swing coat. There is a retro feel to it. The buttons are covered in dark brown leather and I think camel looks lux... even if it cost just $99. I am happy and I am cosy. Win, win! Finally, the quest it over... well until next year!

Get Lean as You Clean

Hey everyone! So I was browsing the internet a few weeks ago in search of a magic product to aid my mission to banish cellulite and I came across a soap bar by Bliss called Fat Girl Soap. The soaps aim is to get lean while you clean. It's made with massaging nubs and caffeine to stimulate circulation and contour the body, skin-vigorating peppermint and grapefruit extracts, and jojoba beads to exfoliate and enhance the penetration of follow-up products, it’s a lively lather that really raises the "bar" on body toning. Massaging nubs and caffeine stimulate circulation and contour the body. Peppermint and grapefruit extracts invigorate skin. Jojoba beads slough dead skin cells and enhance product penetration. As soon as I received it I couldn't wait to hop in the shower to try it out! The first thing you will notice is the gorgeous smell of peppermint. As you can see from the picture there are nubs which helps the circulation in the skin as well as massaging the beads into the skin to help exfoliate.
The soap lathers up really well and straight away you can feel the dead skin cells being removed from you skin as instantly your skin starts to feel soft and smooth. I focussed mainly on my thighs to help reduce my cellulite by using circular movements for about 5 minutes on each leg. Having used it for nearly a week I can already see a dramatic difference not only in my cellulite but my entire body feels the softest that it has ever felt. I will be investing in more of the fat girl range as there are so many products on their website that look fab! I definitely recommend this soap to all of you ladies its perfect for the summer season when the skirts are pulled out from the back of the wardrobe. Head to blissworld.com where you can browse their products and purchase a thing or two. Weight Loss Causes

When eating out, snack lightly before you leave. Most people eat very heavily when they feel sharp hunger. Arm yourself against this by eating some salad before you go to a restaurant. Also eat lesser than what you need will lose weight. Most people believe that reducing weight is a very tough job. Try to replace high fat food with low fat, high fiber natural food like carrots, cucumbers and melons. Having one watermelon for dinner or lunch will greatly cut the number of calories that your body receives. It also works wonders for your skin. Swimming is a terrific way to tone the body and get in shape with very little stress on the joints. This makes it the perfect exercise for any age; all you need is a swimsuit and to find a suitable time at the pool, many have designated adult swim times or family sessions.

The first one about not swimming too well. That means you do swim a bit, and a bit is all you need to get this thing rolling. When I came back to swimming after 30 years off, I started easy, I did what I could because I knew that as time passed I'd get a little bit better and a little bit better until I was really getting somewhere. Now when I say easy, I mean easy, like 25 meters and then a rest, then another 25 meters and so on. It's like water on stone, the outcome is never in doubt, and the little drip will go right through that stone. If you look at too big a task, you'll say, "oh forget it, it's too tough to lose 96 lbs.". Then let's do it! And when we've got that wall knocked down, we'll go for 8 lbs. next time!” Knows the time to start your to lose weight.

Vanilla Pumpkin Bars

I made some yummy pumpkin bars today. Nicholas had gotten a little pumpkin when his class went to the orchard, and it was going to go to waste. So I roasted it and made my own pumpkin puree. How domestic, right? And me, still recovering from my self diagnosed h1n1, lol (seriously, I am). Anyway, it really knocked me for a loop. Well, them and the rest of the stuff I cooked today, homemade rolls, chicken and stuffing casserole, and baked butternut squash. But they are pretty good. Here is the recipe. I'm claiming it as my own. I started with a recipe of someone else's, but by the time I substituted for stuff I had on hand and changed and eliminated things I didn't like, I figured I'd be like one of those people on Allrecipes who changes a bunch of stuff in a recipe and then bitches about how it turned out crappy. Except, I am such a skilled cook that my stuff doesn't come out crappy. Anyway, without further ado.

Vanilla Pumpkin Bars:
1 vanilla cake mix
¼ c. vegetable oil
4 eggs
1-16 oz can solid-pack pumpkin or equivalent amount of fresh pumpkin puree
1-14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
½ tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350 (325 for glass). Reserve ½ cup cake mix. In large bowl, combine remaining mix, oil, and 1 egg. Mix until crumbly. Press firmly into bottom of greased 13x9 baking pan. Combine remaining ingredients, including the ½ cup reserved cake mix. Mix well, pour over prepared crust in pan. Bake 50 minutes or until set. Cool. Cut into bars.
